The Society was established in 1938 and has been active in all aspects of amateur photography ever since.
We have a very varied range of members, whose interests and abilities cover the entire spectrum - from beginners to semi-professional. We are always on the lookout for new members and are particularly interested in people who are just starting photography for the first time. Come along to any of our meetings share your enthusiasm and experiences with us. We meet weekly during the winter and fortnightly during the summer to share our experiences, see notable photographers' work and learn from other's experience.
We have the occasional competition where a visiting judge assesses our entries and hopefully show where we can improve. You don't have to enter but they're great fun and a brilliant way of developing your expertise. We also have special interest groups - of which you will see more of on the rest of this site.
We also organise teach-in sessions such as the Digital Workshops or PAGB/RPS Accreditation.
You can find out more by using these links:
If you are thinking of joining us please come along to one of our Thursday meetings and have a chat with our Chris Mellows - he 's responsible for welcoming potential new members and will be very keen for you to join in the fun!.
